Classic Tiramisu: A Venetian Love Story

Tiramisu, meaning "pick me up," is Italy's most beloved dessert. This no-bake wonder combines coffee-soaked ladyfingers with a rich mascarpone cream.

Ingredients (Serves 8)

  • 500g mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 6 large eggs, separated
  • 150g sugar
  • 300ml strong espresso, cooled
  • 3 tablespoons Marsala wine (optional)
  • 300g Savoiardi (ladyfinger cookies)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Make the cream: Whisk egg yolks with sugar until pale and thick. Gently fold in mascarpone until smooth.

  2. Whip egg whites: Beat until stiff peaks form, then carefully fold into the mascarpone mixture.

  3. Prepare coffee: Mix espresso with Marsala. Let it cool completely.

  4. Assemble: Quickly dip ladyfingers in coffee (don't soak!), layer in a dish, spread cream, repeat.

  5. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.

  6. Finish: Dust generously with cocoa powder before serving.

Tips from Sofia

  • Use fresh, high-quality mascarpone
  • Don't over-soak the ladyfingers
  • Be patient - it tastes better the next day
  • Always use raw eggs from a trusted source

This dessert is pure magic!
